Yoga
Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence
Patanjali
I teach an intuitive Hatha style of yoga, which is Scaravelli inspired. Suitable for everyone, through a series of yoga asanas (postures), meditation and pranayama (breathing), I look to re-awaken the potential of the spine helping to move energy and vitality through the body. With a whole body approach – body, breath and mind, the class is a restorative space where we find that balance between movement and stillness.
Classes involve gentle movement allowing time to explore the change we bring to our body, mind and breath.
By moving the spine and increasing the awareness of the connection to the limbs we can release tension in our hips and shoulders through the asanas. We become more aware of what our body needs and bring lightness to the body.
The classes always finish with a Savasana relaxation, allowing you to connect to the breath and absorb the benefits of the yoga practice.

The class is open to all levels of ability as I adapt the asanas to the students. It’s a relaxed space where you can just allow yourself to focus on you and what your body needs, plus have some fun.
Through my training, I have learnt that the body has the intelligence to know how it needs to move and that we need to trust that intuition and listen to it. By doing so, yoga can help support the body, mind and emotions.
What are the benefits of yoga?
Yoga has many benefits and it is a way of bringing life and awareness to our bodies, as well as energy and vitality to your day.

The movement is not extreme, there is no pushing or pulling, it is about building awareness of the body – how it moves, how it stands – what brings it vitality. Just by working on how your feet make contact with the earth, how you walk and sit, can have an enormous impact on your standing right the way through your legs to your hips and through the rest of your body.
Yoga can give you a clearer head, as well as provide strength and stability to the body. It can also help stabilise your emotions. It can also help manage the impact or the symptoms of disease, especially stress related diseases as well as problems associated with arthritis by helping to manage pain and stiffness. Menstrual and menopausal problems and the effects of hormonal changes can also be greatly reduced.
Yoga, if practiced regularly, will make you feel energised and enthusiastic about life. It can lift is out of lethargy and heaviness and really encourage rest and sleep, as well as generally bring some peace and harmony to our lives. And who, in today’s fast paced life could not do with that.
