About Me
I started my yoga journey about 20 years ago when I needed help to recover movement in my left shoulder after breaking my collar-bone. I have a history of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome too, so I thought that yoga could also be a gentle form of activity that would help move me but not exhaust me. I found the small weekly class that I attended to be really helpful, increasing the movement in the shoulder joint but I also felt calm and relaxed after a class, always sleeping really well and it seemed to help keep my energy levels and health on a more even keel. This weekly class became a real beacon of joy in my otherwise busy week.

When my husband and I moved to Hampshire in 2012, I joined a yoga class in the local village hall run by Sally-Ann Raffell, a teacher who trained with the Inner Yoga Trust. I really enjoyed the classes she ran and I could really feel the benefit of it throughout my body, as well as helping me manage my fatigue. It also helped me mentally, giving me some calmness which helped decrease my stress levels. It was clear to me that yoga was an important part of my life.
In 2018, I decided to take my yoga journey further. I wanted to learn more about yoga but also ways to help me manage my health and wellbeing on an ongoing basis. So, I signed up to the Inner Yoga Teacher Training Diploma Course which consisted of 3 years/500 hours of face-to-face teaching and learning. This course has been transformational for me in terms of learning about the yoga asanas (postures), the breathing and meditation, but also the importance of the spiritual side of yoga and how it seeps into every part of my life. I completed the course in September 2022.

I have now given up my full-time job as a PR Manager at Delta Air Lines and am now focusing on my yoga teaching in the beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors. I have also qualified to become a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner (May 2023), through the School of Thai Yoga Massage which I have found to be incredibly complimentary to my yoga teaching.
My learning continues having completed a 30-hour online Dr Yogi Anatomy and Physiology course 2022/2023 as well as learning from teachers such as Gary Carter and Jenny Beeken. I am currently doing a Yoga Therapy Course for Stress, Burnout, Long Covid and M.E run by Fiona Agombar and Sarah Ryan. I look forward to sharing my learning from this course later this year. If I have learnt anything through training as a yoga teacher is that everyday the learning continues.
